Jianxin Shen

Ten years as a quant developer in Singapore.

Code quant for a living, code play for meaning.

In trading, sending an order and knowing what actually filled are different problems. I work on the systems that keep track of that difference.

I also build Battuta, a tool for editing music with an AI agent. The agent reads and changes MIDI files; I listen and decide what to try next.

Withmere is my work on a personal AI environment for life and work. I use Discord and Telegram to talk with agents and work on projects, while developing how the system carries conversations, memory and actions forward.

Untested or untestable?

A risk score ranked one function first: 7 of 129 statements covered. The missing tests could not be written until a boundary between policy and the operating system was drawn, and three reviews then found where the new boundary leaked.

Essay

Too heavy, and I could not say which notes

A piano accompaniment sounded too heavy, and I could not point to the notes. Finding them through conversation and listening, changing only those, and discovering that the score had already said something similar.

Note

The systems behind the writing

Trading infrastructure, musical editing and a personal AI environment. These pages explain what I am building, the choices behind it and the examples or development accounts available to examine.

Trading Infrastructure

Most of my working life has gone into one question every trading system has to answer: what actually happened? A strategy says what position it wants, the broker says what was executed, and the books say what was recorded. Live failures tend to start in the gaps between those three records; the work is giving each one a single owner and reconciling them honestly while the market keeps moving.

Constructed data; no live account connection.

Battuta

A command-line MIDI editor for working on music with an AI agent. The agent inspects notes, writes an edit request, compares the files, and plays the result. The human listens and decides whether to keep the change.

Withmere

A small group of AI agents I live with, who come to know me over time and help me with my code and much more. Each remembers me in its own way; what is true about me stays mine to decide.

Private development and daily use

About Withmere →

Open the Lab to follow a buy order through recovery and completion, or compare two MIDI edits by ear.

If any of this sounds like your problem

I want to hear from people who have met the same things: state that drifts from what actually happened, tools that decide more than they should, an argument on this site you think is wrong. A short note is enough.
